
Terms of service.
Appointment cancellation:
Life happens. Sometimes you need to cancel an appointment. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, I may not be able to reschedule. My calendar is built out in advance, and a spot you’re holding prevents another from meeting with me. If you cancel with more than 24 hours notice, I can reschedule another time to talk to you. This may be during an evening or not until the following week, in which case we may have 2 calls in 1 week, if you are in ongoing coaching. I cannot guarantee our schedules will align.
Missed deadlines:
Missed deadlines will not be extended except for extenuating circumstances. In that case, at my discretion, I will reschedule our deadline/call if needed, if necessary adding a week to the end of our total time together free of charge.
Otherwise, for missed deadlines:
Work for that deadline will be shifted to the next deadline, if coaching, or the next week for one-off packages. You will not be refunded for the missing material/week. We will still have our coaching call (if you’d still like). But you are paying for my time, which can’t be booked to someone else on such short notice. Payments are by month, not week. It is your choice to use that time to get the most of your investment. If you reach out to me beforehand, I may be able to work around things at my discretion, if possible for my schedule, but this is the baseline for my work.
If I miss a deadline (which would only be in an emergency situation), I would extend my services in the following ways, at no cost to you:
Monthly Coaching: 1 free deadline of coaching, and monthly call rescheduled for 60 minutes instead of 30
Pitch Prep Package - 1 extra round of feedback on either your query, synopsis, or 1st chapter, OR an extra 30-minute call with me
Manuscript Eval: 1 extra chapter of in-line comments
Missed payments:
If you fall behind with payments, I must put our coaching on hold. Once you catch up, I will add you to my schedule, but I cannot guarantee the same time slots or that you won’t have to wait, if my schedule becomes full during that time. You may also be assessed late fees:
Late fees: 5% for payments 30+ days late, 10% for 60+ days late, 25% for 90+ days late.
After 90 days, I reserve the right to demand payment in full, plus any associated late fees, and cancel our agreement.
Extra Pages:
Sometimes you reach your max page count and you’re not done with the scene. I’d rather read a whole scene, even if it means an extra page or two. However, to prevent this from becoming excessive or the norm, you should contact me ahead of your deadline if you think you’re going to exceed your page count.
If you send more pages per deadline than your package permits (or that I have accepted via communication), I will reach out to you with one of these options:
Either I will work with the extra pages for an additional fee TBD by the package you’ve selected in an extended feedback deadline,
OR I will read the extra pages for this deadline, and subtract them from the next,
OR I will not coach you on those extra pages for that submission (i.e. you will need to resubmit them for the next deadline, or not at all if you choose.)
Waiting List:
If my client list is full, I am happy to add you to the waiting list! Clients will be on-boarded in the order they are added to the waiting list. In the event that my calendar is full, joining my waiting list is optional. In order not to waste anyone’s time, I only add potential clients to my waiting list if they have completed my full Client Intake Questionnaire and I believe us to be a good fit and am ready to commit to working together in the future.
Use of Information:
In agreeing to work with me, you agree to allow me to use your name, likeness, book title, and book cover (of the specific book we worked on together) for promotional purposes.
