1-on-1 Coaching
What’s it for?
-
Revising your Blueprint
Continue to develop your story and work through key problem areas by revising a previously completed Blueprint for a Book.
-
Writing a draft
Write forward chapter by chapter, and at the end, you’ll have a chapter by chapter map of feedback and next steps for revision. This also applies to Re-writing.
-
Revising your Manuscript
Stick to a plan for revision and receive feedback on what’s left to revise and when your story is ready for the world.
What’s included
Accountability
Committing to writing consistently (and on the same project, mind you) is no easy feat! I will provide structure and deadlines to keep you on track with your writing goals. Think of me as your accountability partner. Who else is asking to see your progress every week? You’ll be stuck with me. But your writing habits will be better for it.
Say goodbye to procrastination, and hello to progress!
Project Management
From the very start of our coaching relationship, I will be evaluating your writing and publishing goals. We will create weekly/monthly writing goals and focuses that will get you there in the (realistic) timeline you envision. I will also constantly be evaluating your writing project and what it needs, whether that be
brainstorming/planning through the Blueprint for a Book method
writing a draft
revising as we write, or
the full revision process.
I will juggle all of the details - as well as the big picture - of your project, and ensure your focus is always on what needs your attention the most. It’s easy to miss the forest for the trees. And vice versa. Whether you tend to focus on the details (perhaps at the expense of the big picture) or the other way around — I will fill in the gaps in your focus and project management.
Feedback & Support
Good feedback is honest, informed, thorough, and constructive. Expect to be told the bare truth about your story and your writing, but with empathy and encouragement. Feedback will be mainly focused on the deep story level, and writing craft. Coaching with me will look like in-line feedback on whatever you’re working on, whether that’s pages of planning, drafting, or revision. On top of that, detailed Editorial Letters will summarize my findings, as well as outline clear next steps to guide you. A coach isn’t just an impersonal editorial feedback machine. A coach cares. A coach builds up as they tear down. A coach provides support through the various emotional turmoils of the writing rollercoaster.
You can expect my full support, encouragement, brainstorming sessions, and answers to any questions in my feedback, and depending on your package, some combination of email support and/or Coaching Calls.
